Integrated Pest Management
At Redfern Pest Solutions, we practice IPM—Integrated Pest Management. IPM is a sustainable, science-based, decision-making process that combines biological, cultural, physical and products to identify, manage and reduce risks from pests. IPM practices minimize overall health and environmental risks.
By using identification, sanitation, exclusion, physical methods, (trapping, glue boards, vacuuming, etc.), and when needed, products, (baits, attractants, repellents, insect growth regulators, etc.), we can be environmentally responsible and keep your home pest free.
Science has given us a wide range of excellent pest management tools along with more knowledge about the pests themselves. This gives us many choices when tailoring a pest management program to fit your specific needs. Redfern Pest Solutions utilizes the highest quality and safest products available on the market today.
Non-Chemical Solutions
With IPM being the foremost consideration, we use non-chemical pest management techniques whenever possible including the following.
-
Exclusion
We may seal cracks and repair holes in the home’s exterior to prevent pests from entering.
- Harborage Removal
Your pest professional may recommend eliminating or moving piles of wood, bricks, leaves and mulch away from the foundation. We may also recommend removing vegetation and cutting back trees to offer fewer sites where pests can live in proximity to the home.
- Interception
We recommend always checking incoming supplies, such as groceries and cardboard boxes, to intercept pests before they can establish residence inside.
- Trapping
Traps may be used to quickly reduce rodent populations.
- Monitoring
If traps are used, we will regularly monitor them to help us detect what type of pests are present and determine where pests are most active. We use sticky traps placed at the floor level and stored product pheromone traps are often used in homes.
